Madrid, (EFE).- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EFE Agency have come together to bring the EU closer to Spain through a photographic exhibition that highlights the richness and diversity of the cities that will host the more than 300 meetings organized on the occasion of the semester of the Spanish Presidency of the EU.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and the president of the EFE Agency, Gabriela Cañas, have inaugurated this Monday the exhibition “Cities of the Presidency: a European tour of Spain” whose objective is to bring citizens closer to the EU and highlight the heritage of the cities that will host the meetings.
The exhibition is made with funds from the photographic archive of the EFE Agency, and will travel on an itinerant basis through Adif stations throughout the country.
“This is the graphic expression that brings the European Presidency closer to the citizenry, projecting in turn the diversity and wealth of our country in Europe,” explained the minister after touring the exhibition with the president of EFE.
Albares has stressed that “beyond beautiful photographs, this exhibition responds to the principles set by the Government to achieve a decentralized Presidency and close to the citizens.”
The exhibition is made up of 25 panels with photographs from the EFE Agency archive that value architecture, industry, agriculture and nature in Spain.
The tour recalls “the agency’s contribution to territorial cohesion and the visibility of regions, cities, towns and villages, thanks to its extensive network of delegations and sub-delegations spread throughout the national territory”, assured Gabriela Cañas.
For the EFE Agency “it is a satisfaction to contribute with its graphic archive to visualize the important work agenda proposed by the Government for the European Presidency”, which starts in Vigo to culminate in Tarragona after visiting 25 Spanish cities, stressed the president.
Thus, the minister stressed the importance of showing that “Spain’s foreign action in the EU is a State policy, which is structured throughout the national territory”.
Albares stressed that one of the high-level meetings will be organized in all the autonomous communities, but that there will also be more than 300 events throughout the country.
“We want citizens to be actively involved in the Presidency, since the involvement of citizens is the best way to build the European project; without the citizens, the project makes no sense ”, she assured.
For her part, the president of EFE has indicated the satisfaction of being able to collaborate with the Ministry in this exhibition that reveals the “desire for social and territorial cohesion” and the Europeanism of the Agency, and the satisfaction of collaborating with a Ministry that is “our best ally and wherever we have problems, he always supports us”.
