Valladolid, May 5 (EFE).- The less conventional and more direct scene, to the point of involving the viewer as part of the show, will return to the streets of Valladolid between May 24 and 28 with a new edition of the International Festival of Theater and Street Arts (TAC), presented this Friday.
Theater, but also dance, circus, music and installations are the focus of the proposals that will bring to Valladolid forty-three national and international companies through 214 performances in nearly forty spaces located in the historic center of the capital, including the National Museum of Sculpture in dialogue with their funds.
Thought for the street
All the proposals “are designed and prepared for their street staging” in order to “intervene and modify the urban space” but also to residents and visitors, explained the artistic director of the TAC, Juan Herrero, during the presentation of A program designed for all types of audiences.
The theme, characterized by social commitment and criticism, “is not alien to what is happening around us”, added the director about a varied edition in formats, disciplines and origins that includes the majority of the most representative trends in creation. contemporary.
This critical and revisionist spirit reaches its maximum expression in the street as a territory of freedom, a place of creation and a space where the citizen, recipient of all proposals, is fully sovereign, hence the motto “The city and you” that summarizes the program of this twenty-fourth edition.
living arts
Reflection, emotion and, where appropriate, fun are some of the premises of this TC 2023 that this year will honor radio journalist Daniel Galindo (RNE), “the voice of the live arts on the radio”, according to the artistic director, and who since 2012 directs the program “La Sala” on the public channel.
“But the TAC will also be a professional and sectoral meeting point,” added Juan Herrero in front of the mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente, and the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Ana Redondo.
Eleven international companies
The international representation will be carried out by nineteen companies from eleven different countries: Germany, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Slovenia, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Portugal and the United Kingdom, while groups from Spain will attend eleven autonomous communities, four of them from Castilla y León.
A jury of five professionals will decide the prizes for the best show, best interp
challenge, most innovative show, and best circus show (Emilio Zapatero Award), while the public, as is traditional, will award theirs.
Aerial theater to whet your appetite

The four seasons, by Vivaldi (1685-1741), will act as the guiding thread of a proposal full of symbols, allegories, and whose aerial choreography (some thirty meters high) is somewhat reminiscent of disciplines such as ballet and sports. Synchronized swimming.
