London (EFE) of 200 councillors.
When a total of 59 councils of the 230 at stake in England have already been scrutinized, Keir Starmer’s Labor Party has obtained 634 seats, 111 more than they had, while the “Tories” lose 206 and remain for the moment with 414 councillors.
The Lib Dems have also done well, winning 55 new seats to 306.
According to experts, these results indicate that the Labor leader, Keir Starmer, can replace Sunak at the head of the United Kingdom Government in the next general elections, which must be held before January 2025.
Sunak regrets the loss of councilors
The British Prime Minister regretted this Friday the loss of “friendly and hard-working” councilors in the municipal elections, but stressed that his intention is to focus on his government priorities.
“As far as the results are concerned, it is still early days, but what I am going to continue to do is meet the priorities of the people: cut inflation in half, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists. (in public services) and stop the arrival of ships (with immigrants through the English Channel)”, stated the conservative leader.
According to the first projections of the vote, Keir Starmer’s Labor party would win in the general elections scheduled for 2024, after more than 13 years in opposition, although it remains to be seen what the size of their majority would be.
