Madrid, (EFE).- 83% of Spaniards have reduced their purchase of olive oil due to the rise in prices, a reality that has reached almost all categories, but is more pronounced in this product, followed by fish (79%), fruits and meat (72%).
This is clear from the x-ray on food consumption carried out by the global market research platform Appinio, carried out from a thousand surveys.
It concludes that 95% of Spaniards have perceived a general increase in the prices of consumer products; Specifically, 63% of those surveyed think that in recent months, the price of oil has increased drastically, along with that of fish and shellfish (50%).
In the case of beverages, the study participants acknowledge having reduced the consumption of bottled water (47%), sparkling wine (41%), red wine (34%), alcoholic beverages (33%), and juices (32%). ).
The study concludes that physical stores are the option most followed by Spaniards to buy food, mainly supermarkets (79%), hypermarkets (46%) and food or neighborhood stores (26%).
Shop once a week
It coincides with the data from other consultancies in that Mercadona (44%), Carrefour (16%) and Lidl (15%) are the most frequent options that respondents go to choose their food.
In this regard, 29% of Spaniards choose this alternative because it is the closest establishment to their home, compared to those who opt for them because they consider that they have the best prices (24%).
Asked about their purchase frequency, 40% state that they make a purchase once a week, compared to those who buy several times a week (26%).
On average, despite the fact that the economic circumstances of each person are different, 22% of those surveyed say they spend approximately a total of 60 to 89 euros when they make their purchases, followed by those who spend between 40 and 59 euros (21% ) and those who spend between 90 and 119 euros (16%).
54% of Spaniards eat at least once a week outside the home and 10% of Spaniards use applications to order food at home also every week.
