Moscow, May 3 (EFE).- Ukraine tried last night to attack the Kremlin with drones, as denounced today by the Russian Presidency, which is threatening retaliatory measures.
“Tonight the Kiev regime tried to hit the residence of the President of the Russian Federation with unmanned aerial vehicles,” the Kremlin said in a statement posted on its website.
According to the Russian Presidency, “two drones were heading to the Kremlin” and “as a result of timely actions taken by the military and special services using radio-electronic warfare systems, the devices were disabled.”
The statement ensures that the drones and their fragments fell into the Kremlin compound, without causing victims or material damage.
A “terrorist attack against Putin”
The Kremlin has described this action as “a planned terrorist attack and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation, perpetrated on the eve of Victory Day and the military parade on May 9, in which the attendance of guests”.
The presidency has assured that Putin “was not injured” and that he “continues to work as usual.”
However, the Kremlin has warned that Russia “reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it deems appropriate.”
The spokesman for the presidency, Dmitri Peskov, has also indicated that the military parade in Red Square is maintained, as planned.
Moscow bans the use of drones after denouncing the attack on the Kremlin
For now, the Moscow authorities have banned the use of drones in the capital this Wednesday after denouncing the Ukrainian attack with drones against the Kremlin.
“We have made the decision to ban the use of drones in Moscow from today,” said the capital’s councilor, Sergei Sobinian, on his Telegram channel.
According to Sobianin, the drones that are used for state purposes will be able to fly in the airspace of the capital.
The mayor insisted that the unauthorized launch of a drone is “a crime and entails administrative and criminal responsibilities.”
