Hamas condemnation
In a statement, Hamas condemned tonight’s Israeli airstrikes, saying they will not deter “the Palestinian resistance from fulfilling its national duty to defend its people.”
On the other hand, the office of the group’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, said it was in contact with Egypt and Qatar – which tend to mediate in rebounds like the current one – “to stop the aggression on Gaza.”

After the death this morning on a hunger strike of Adnan, a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (YIP) and the first Palestinian prisoner to die in such circumstances since 1983, at least 37 projectiles -30 rockets and 7 mortars- were launched in several bursts from Gaza from early in the morning, which continued throughout the day.
The Gaza Joint Chamber of Operations, which is made up of armed factions in the enclave, including the Islamist movements Hamas and the JIP, claimed responsibility for the shooting in response to Adnan’s death, and said it would carry out more launches.
Islamic Jihad Warning
Islamic Jihad -also with a strong military presence in Gaza- warned Israel that it “will pay the price” for Adnan’s death, and tonight released a video with its militiamen and projectiles in which it assured that the shooting really “has not started yet ”.
For now, Adnan’s body is still being held by Israel, an official Israeli source confirmed to EFE.
Among the rockets fired on Tuesday were some that hit construction sites in the Israeli city of Sderot. Injured three Chinese foreign workers. One of them was seriously injured and two others slightly.
In recent years there have been several spikes in violence of varying degrees between Israel and the Gaza militias.
