Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The Hidramar Gran Canaria players received this Sunday, after winning the Iberdrola Volleyball League for the second time in three years, a medal that accredits them as champions of the Men’s Super League.
The slip made by the person who organized the awarding of medals in the fourth game of the final against Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna has been made public on Twitter by the Galician player Helia González, recipient of Hidramar Gran Canaria.
“The time has come and… champions of the SVM, the title I never thought I would win,” says González, who publishes two photos of his “champion” medal: the obverse with the initials SVM and the reverse with the legend that clarifies its meaning, “Men’s Super League – Champion – Season 2022 / 2023”.
The photos taken by the EFE Agency in the celebration of the title this Sunday in the Pablos Abril pavilion in Tenerife corroborate his complaint: it shows the Hidramar Gran Canaria players with medals around their necks that read the acronym SVM and, in some cases, also the reverse of “Superliga Masculina – Campeón”.
That tournament, the Men’s Super League, will probably know the winner next Saturday without leaving the island of Gran Canaria, since Guaguas faces Río Duero Soria in the third and fourth games of the final at the Centro Insular de Deportes on Saturday and on Sunday.
The Guaguas players arrive at the third game with a 0-2 in their favor in the provisional balance of the final (best of five games) and without having lost a single game in the entire competition. EFE
