Madrid, May 1 (EFE) Ayuso and José Luis Rodríguez Almeida, whom they accuse of having worsened the quality of life of workers and people from Madrid.
This was expressed by some of the leaders of the Madrid left before participating in the demonstration called by the unions on the occasion of the celebration of May Day.
The spokesperson for Más Madrid in the capital’s City Council and candidate for this formation, Rita Maestre, has highlighted that this Monday will be “the last May Day of the PP governments in Madrid”, and has pointed out that in In the last four years, the living conditions “of the social and working majority” of the city “has only gotten worse.”
This worsening has been noted, Maestre said, in public services, in material conditions, in the time spent to get to work or the money used to pay rents or mortgages.
And in the face of those “lazy governments” of the PP Maestre has promised, from the 28-M of the hand of Más Madrid “worker governments”, to improve transportation, lower housing prices or guarantee a minimum wage to all municipal employees.
For her part, the Más Madrid candidate for the Community, Mónica García, has emphasized the effects that labor problems have on mental health, something that must be “immediately tackled” with “decent wages and jobs”.
For this, Más Madrid proposes four measures: that Madrid be the spearhead of the government’s labor reform, “which has been a great success”; walking towards 32 hours, “work less to live better”; create “quality” employment, with his proposal to create 50,000 ‘green jobs’ in the region; and guarantee a basic income for 2,500 families.
Juan Lobato, socialist candidate for the Community, has defended the labor reform of the Government of Pedro Sánchez against the “doomsayers and ashes” who predicted more unemployment due to its application, and in response to this he has lamented that Madrid, the “richest” region of Spain, youth unemployment remains above the average or that companies “cannot find trained people to fill the positions they need.
“There is only one solution for this: education, education, education,” said Lobato, who has promised a plan to train 250,000 young people in 18 months, in addition to creating more jobs for young people or helping personal and family reconciliation.
Also from the PSOE-M, its candidate for mayor of Madrid, Reyes Maroto, has declared before joining the demonstration that after 28-M her party will launch “Madrid Conecta”, a new agency so that the more than 140,000 unemployed registered in the capital “have employment and training opportunities”, and that will focus on women, who account for 60% of the unemployed.
This agency, he has continued to explain, will give priority to the districts with which “unemployment is primed: Latina, Carabanchel, Villaverde and Puente and Villa de Vallecas.”
“Today I want to put a face to the 149,263 unemployed people in the city of Madrid, who deserve to have the best policies, the best resources, and that will come from Madrid Conecta”, stated Maroto.
On behalf of Podemos-Izquierda Unida-Alianza Verde, its head of the list for the Community, Alejandra Jacinto, has advocated for a progressive and “careful” government against the “abuse” government of Ayuso, which “is targeting the majority social” of the region.
And as an example of the measures proposed by his coalition, he has cited advancing towards the 35-hour day or the launch of a public distribution platform, “a kind of public GLOVO, where decent working conditions are respected and, in addition, serve to promote local trade”.
Also before participating in the demonstration, the Recupera Madrid candidate for City Council, Luis Cueto, stressed that to defend labor rights and pensions, “professionals” are needed to analyze the data and “provide convincing explanations and real solutions”, because ” the numbers do not understand the logic of parties ”.
