Barcelona (EFE) and acronyms” and has been offered as a “bridge” to facilitate unity.
This was stated in an interview with EFE, in which he referred to the internal struggle carried out in recent weeks by the second vice president of the Government and promoter of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, and the former leader of Podemos Pablo Iglesias.
“We are at a time when an effort must be made to value more what unites us than what separates us. It is a time not to build walls or to dig trenches, but to build bridges, so as not to fall into partisan tactics or the narcissism of acronyms or egos”, Asens has prescribed.
In his opinion, “we need more humility, more generosity, more empathy, getting out of comfort zones” and avoiding reproaches through the media.
From his “double militancy”, in the commons and in Podem Catalunya, Asens considers himself called to play a “bridging role” between the different sensibilities.
As proof of this balance, he recalled that he attended the presentation ceremony of Sumar, at the beginning of April, and in the middle of the month he was present at the Podemos Spring Festival in Zaragoza.
“The common ones are destined to be the cohesive element between Sumar and Podemos. We have an experience of virtuous confluence ”, he highlighted.
In fact, according to Asens, “Catalonia is an oasis” of unity, which is why the commons should try to “export” their unitary model to the rest of the State and help establish a “confederal” relationship.
In his opinion, “it is necessary to take the project to ITV, renew strategies and attitudes”, and the “indicated” person to pilot this restart is Yolanda Díaz.
“If we go separately, we won’t add as much”
Asens has insisted on appealing for a unitary solution: “It would be a failure if the coalition government were not reissued. And for the coalition government to be reissued, it is a condition of possibility that we understand each other. If we go separately, we will not add as much as if we go together, ”he warned.
The essential thing for Sumar and Podemos to come closer, in his opinion, is to generate a “climate of loyalty and trust” and avoid getting into reproaches: “In the face of attacks, it is better not to respond, not to go down into the mud”, has pointed out.
Asked about the criticism of Iglesias that Díaz expressed in a recent interview with La Sexta, he stated: “We have to try not to fall into criticism of our colleagues. No criticism of Yolanda Díaz or Pablo Iglesias will come out of my mouth ”.
“As Pablo Iglesias said, Yolanda Díaz is destined to be the most important politician in the next decade. And, as Yolanda Díaz said, without Pablo Iglesias we would not have gotten here”, she said.
Pablo Iglesias “continues to have significant power”
He has also referred to some words by Iglesias in his current affairs program “La Base”, in which he echoed an internal debate in United We Can in Congress regarding tax exemptions for religious denominations, promoted by the socialists.
For Asens, “leaks in general are never positive, they do not contribute to a climate of trust”, since the parliamentary group “must work with confidentiality”.
Asens understands that Iglesias, “despite the fact that he does not have management positions” in Podemos, “does continue to have significant power, because he has the capacity to influence, his opinion has many speakers and reaches many people”
