Madrid, (EFE).- The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced on Tuesday the construction of 20,000 new public housing for affordable rent on land owned by the Ministry of Defense through the Public Business Land Company (Sepes).
During his appearance before the plenary session of the Senate, Sánchez explained that these 20,000 homes are in addition to the 12,000 homes of the so-called “Operation Camp” in Madrid, buildings that will also be built on land that belonged to Defense and of which 60% will be public.
In recent days, the Government has announced the mobilization of 113,000 public homes for rent at affordable prices, since today’s 20,000 are added to the 50,000 agreed by Sareb and the 43,000 new construction that will be financed with ICO loans.
In total, if one takes into account the public housing already planned by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda with the Housing for Affordable Rental plan, in the coming years the Government will set up some 183,000 properties.
Sánchez has highlighted that in the last two legislatures of the PP only 1,600 homes were projected, with which now “the commitment to public rental housing at affordable prices is multiplied by 115”.
