Los Angeles (USA) (EFE).- The 96th edition of the Oscars will be held on March 10, 2024 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (California, USA), the Hollywood Academy announced on Monday it’s a statement.
The show will be broadcast live on ABC “in more than 200 territories around the world,” reported the organizing entity of these film awards, the most prestigious in the industry worldwide.
Thus, the 2024 ceremony will once again be hosted by what has been its usual venue since 2001, with the exception of 2021, which took place at Union Station in Los Angeles due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The Academy also reported that the films that want to apply for the next edition of the Oscars will have a deadline of November 15, the same day that the well-known Governors Awards will take place, which recognize those personalities who have contributed “in an deep and lasting” to the cinema.
Oscar nominees will be announced in January
The announcement of the tapes that pass the preliminary voting (“shortlist”, in English) will be made on December 18 and, from there, the members of the Academy will have four weeks of margin to finish revealing on January 23 which are the titles, directors, actors and actresses nominated.
A month and a half later, on March 10, specifically, the 96th edition of the Oscars will be held, which will have the traditional Oscar Luncheon as a prelude, scheduled for February 12.
For its part, the Scientific and Technical Awards of the Hollywood Academy will honor on February 23 those people and companies whose innovative contributions in the cinema have allowed a notable development of the industry.
In the text with which the Academy communicated the main dates in the race towards the Oscar 2024, it qualified that they are “subject to changes” due to the months that still remain for the gala.
In the last edition of the Oscars, held on March 12, the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was the big winner of the night, winning seven statuettes, including best film, director and leading actress.
