Guayaquil (Ecuador), Apr 22 (EFE).- Independiente del Valle won 1-0 this Saturday against Técnico Universitario and maintained the leadership of the Ecuadorian championship, while Orense surprised Liga de Quito and won 2-1 in the dispute of the seventh date of the first phase of the Pro League.
Although Independiente del Valle retained the lead, with 16 units, they showed a discreet level of play despite acting with most of their figures, among others, the Bolivian Marcelo Moreno Martíns, against an opponent who worked hard and did everything effort to reach at least the tie.
After a free kick from the youth team Yaimar Medina, the ball hit the crossbar, when the ball bounced it hit goalkeeper Walter Chávez and went into the goal of the University Technician, for which referee Luis Quiróz registered it as an own goal.
For its part, Orense had one of its best matches, especially for demonstrating grit, technique and honor to win against the difficult rival from Quito and rise to second place in the standings, with 14 units, despite the stubborn rain that fell in the city of Machala.
Cristhian Solano put Orense ahead at minute 18, Alexander Alvarado tied for Liga de Quito through a penalty at minute 82 and Argentine Alejandro Quintana put the score in favor of the local team at minute 83.
The match was one of the most intensely contested of the date with a visiting team, Liga de Quito, which came out with its entire arsenal of stars such as Alvarado, Renato Ibarra, José Angulo, Johan Julio, the Haitian Ricardo Adé, among others.
Gualaceo beat Universidad Católica 1-0, with a goal from Uruguayan Joaquín Vergés, a result with which the former accumulated 10 points and the latter fell to the bottom of the standings thanks to Spanish coach Igor Oca.
The seventh date will continue this Sunday with the following matches: El Nacional-Libertad, Barcelona-Deportivo Cuenca and Mushuc Runa-Emelec. The programming will conclude on Monday with the match between Aucas and Cumbayá.
