Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The Iberdrola League title will be decided this weekend between two teams from the Canary Islands for the second consecutive year and, once again, Hidramar Gran Canaria and Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna have reached the final of the highest national volleyball competition.
Thus begins a series that will be decided on the best of five matches, with the first two being played at the Centro Insular de Deportes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Saturday 22 (4:00 p.m.) and Sunday 23 (4:00 p.m.) and the two following ones at the Pablos Abril de Taco (Tenerife) on Sunday 30 (6:00 p.m.) and Monday, May 1 (12:00 p.m.).
In the event that it was necessary to hold a fifth game, it would be played at the Insular Sports Center on Sunday, May 7 (12:00 p.m.).
Both teams are aware of the toughness of such a long tie but, at the same time, they are clear about the objective and that is that, while the Gran Canaria side seeks to remove the thorn from the last Queen’s Cup final and from the last League, the The Tenerife team intends to revalidate the title and close the season with a treble after winning the cup title and the Super Cup.
The repetition of this final is just one more sign of the good form of Canarian volleyball, which this year has had four representatives in the highest national category, since Hidramar and Tenerife Libby’s are joined by CV Sayre and Heidelberg, who it was relegated with the closure of the regular league.
But the Canary Islands is not only the community with the most presence but also the best teams, as has been demonstrated in the last two editions with the conquest of the 21/22 League by Haris and the triumph of Hidramar Gran Canaria in the 20/ twenty-one.
It is a fact that makes this final more attractive if possible, because this duel will determine which of the two clubs ends up exercising its dominance on the national scene with the achievement of its second league title.
Tenerife Libby’s arrives in his best form. After having accessed the qualifying rounds for the title as third place in the regular league, the team led by Juan Diego García beat the second, Avarca de Menorca by fast track in the semifinals (0-2).
For its part, Hidramar Gran Canaria, leader of the regular league, stumbled in the first duel against fourth-placed Cajasol Voley Dos Hermanas, but ended up taking the tie at home (1-2) and showing why it has been the The best team in the competition to date is that before this final phase, the yellow team had only lost in a clash against CV Kiele.
Maximum rivalry, rematches, the best national and international players in the competition, but above all a lot of volleyball -and canary- is what awaits starting this Saturday, in a clash in which from the first initial greeting these two representative islanders will bid for the national crown.
