Santiago de Compostela, April 20 (EFE).- The Galician Health Service (Sergas) and the State Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM) met this Wednesday for six hours and reached various agreements regarding salary improvements and working hours for staff with which the strike came to an end after nine days of stoppages.
The strike lasted from April 11 to 19 and, during the nine days that the strike lasted, according to the latest data from the Xunta, a total of 1,670 surgeries, 32,696 external consultations and 2,691 tests had to be suspended.
These are the agreements that have allowed the strike to end:
– REMUNERATION OF THE GUARDS
They increase the amounts charged for on-calls, both when the doctor is present at his workplace or simply has to be located. In this way, the amount of on-call duty on a working day of physical presence will be 27 euros/hour from July 1 and, from January 1, 2024, 28 euros/hour. The price of physical presence guards on Sundays and holidays will be 30 euros/hour.
In addition, the MIR -doctors in training- will see the on-call price increased in the same proportion as the statutory staff.
– INCREASES FROM THE FIFTH GUARD OF THE MONTH
A specific module will be enabled for those physicians who do more than five shifts. Thus, the fifth will have “a higher price.” Thus, the price of physical presence guards when there are 5 or more per month will be 37 euros per hour. This increase will apply from January 1, 2024.
– IT WILL BE PAID ON SATURDAY MORNING
A new module will be established to remunerate on Saturday morning equivalent to 7 hours on duty.
– EXEMPT FROM GUARDS OVER 55 YEARS OLD
A new model for the exemption of physical presence guards will be approved for medical specialists in the area over 55 years of age. In this sense, the estimated price is 84 euros/hour for each 84-hour module, with a maximum of 3 monthly average modules, to be applied from January 1, 2024. The modules will be carried out outside of ordinary hours and with recording and monitoring of activity.
– ADDITIONAL PLUS ON CHRISTMAS EVE AND NEW YEAR’S EVE
Facultatives will have additional remuneration on December 24 and 31.
– MORE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PRIVATE
With regard to the specific supplement, a remuneration of around 900 euros per month that the medical colleges also claimed so that it would not be vetoed for those who make the public and private compatible, the Sergas undertakes to develop throughout this month of June a “final model”.
