Cádiz (EFE).- The XXVI edition of the Max Awards for Performing Arts, awarded by the SGAE Foundation, will be presented this Monday at a gala held at the Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz.
The choreographer and dancer Mario Bermúdez’s show “El Bosque” is the one that has received the greatest number of nominations: best dance show, best musical composition for a stage show (José Pablo Polo), best female performer (Catherine Coury) and also best male (Mario Bermudez).
At the gala directed by Ana López Segovia, member of “Las niñas de Cádiz” and by José Troncoso, director of “La Estampida Teatro”, another dance piece, “Runa”, aspires to three nominations, the same as “Yerma”. , directed by María Goiriceleya, who is competing for the best adaptation, stage direction and actress awards.
First nominations for the Max Awards
Five works are competing for the first time for the best theater show “Altsasu”, for The Wandering Dramatic; “Crim i castig”, by Teatre Lliure; “La infamia”, by Producciones Come y Calla; “The will to believe”, by Buxman Producciones and “Zona inundable” by Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.
Also, for the first time, there are five shows competing for the Max for best dance: “Al son”, by Sara Cano Compañía de Danza; “Archipelago of Disasters”, by Elena Carrascal; “The Forest” by Mario Bermúdez Gil; ” “Eta orain zer? And now what?”, by Kukai Dantza and “La Reina del Metal”, by Compañía Vanesa Aibar.

In this edition, which has broken the historical registration record, with 529 participating shows, another dance show, in the category of best musical or lyrical show, the finalists are: “El sobre verde”, by Teatro de la Zarzuela – INAEM ; “La gata perduda”, by Fundació Gran Teatre del Liceu and “Villa y Marte”, by Ron Lalá Teatro-Teatros del Canal.
The best street show will be disputed by “Love, love, love”, by Animasur; “Morning”, by Cía. Manolo Alcántara and “Words that break bones”, by Cía. Pagans.
In contention to win the Max for children, youth or family audiences are: Max “Bajau” from Ponten Pie; “Snow White”, by La Chana Teatro and “The man who planted trees/ Zuhaitzak landatzen zituen gizona”, by Teatro Gorakada.
“Cockroach with landscape in the background”, from Mujer en obras; “L’abraçada dels cucs / The embrace of the worms”, by Cactus Teatre and “La caja. Where reality loses its limits”, from Teatro de La Catrina compete for best new show.
While the candidates for theatrical authorship are: Esther F. Carrodeguas for “Supernormales”; Jesús Muñoz and Pau Pons for “Total Eclipse” and María Goiricelaya Burón for “Altsasu”.
