Logroño, Apr 13 (EFE).- Logroño mobilizes this Thursday with a rally against the group sexual assault of two girls aged 12 and 13, for which 5 minors have been arrested, at a time of concern for the class policy for this type of crime of great social impact.
The collaborative mural against gender violence, painted by more than 150 people on a wall on General Urrutia street, near the Ebro river, will be the scene where the concentration will be held this afternoon, in which a manifesto of rejection and condemnation of any act of sexist violence, rejection of the aggressors and support for the victims.
This attack, which became known last Tuesday, took place on April 9, a Sunday, in a storage room located in a doorway on Avenida de Navarra de Logroño, where the two victims went at around 8:15 p.m., after having been summoned through the social network Instagram, according to the first data provided to EFE by sources of the investigation.
Once inside the building, located in the vicinity of the Old Town of the city and which is a meeting place for young people, the victims were apparently separated and attacked by between 10 and 12 young people, according to what they recounted for an hour and a half. then to some agents of the Local Police of Logroño who were found in the surroundings.
The investigation, which is still open, has allowed the National Police of La Rioja to identify seven minors between the ages of 13 and 17 as allegedly involved, of which five over the age of 14 have been arrested, while the two minors that age have been under the guardianship of their parents.
The five adolescents arrested have testified this Wednesday before the juvenile prosecutors and have appeared before the juvenile judge, who has ordered, for two of them, the internment in a closed regime and, for the other three, a restraining order and prohibition of communicate with victims.
These last three minors are still on file, given that more investigative procedures will be carried out to find out their degree of involvement in these reported events, which have caused a great social impact.
This impact has caused the City Council of Logroño to agree to activate the city’s mourning protocol against sexist violence, which includes the call for the concentration and the reading of the manifesto.
This protocol, signed by 37 associations, establishes a collective response to condemn and denounce situations of gender violence resulting in death or attempted murder, sexist attacks and in cases of vicarious violence.
The samples of condemnation and rejection of the aggression denounced in Logroño have been numerous; as well as the support for the two girls and the concern for this type of event.
Thus, the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, has denied this Wednesday, in an interview on RNE, that there has been a spectacular increase in sexual assaults on minors, but that the visibility and denunciation of this type of violence has increased, that previously also existed with a “very high prevalence rate”.
