Santander (EFE).- The tenth edition of the Mile and the fourth María de Villota Tennis Tournament, which will be held from June 26 to July 2 in Santander, incorporate this year a first edition of the María de Villota Triathlon.
The mayoress of Santander, Gema Igual, and the father of María de Villota, Emilio de Villota, have announced this during the presentation of both events, which seek to continue the legacy of the athlete and which will once again combine sport and solidarity, with the collection of food to support the work of the Economic Kitchen.
The same has encouraged Santander to participate in this new edition of the Mile, thus collaborating with the programs of the Carolina Díez Mahou Foundation, to enjoy the “highest level of Spanish women’s tennis” and to support the solidarity work of the Economic Kitchen.
The María de Villota Mile, which will be held on July 2, will have three children’s races up to 12, 9 and 5 years old at 10:00, 10:05 and 10:10 respectively.
While at 10.20 am there will be the start of the tenth edition of the Mile in which the participants will decide their race, march or walk pace.

Registration for the test is 6 euros for adults and 3 for children, which will go entirely to the “First Star” program created by María herself in 2013 for children with degenerative mitochondrial neuromuscular diseases.
In addition, all participants must provide a liter of milk that will go to the Santander Economic Kitchen.
The fourth María de Villota Tournament will be held between June 26 and July 2 and will host the first IBP Women’s Spanish Open for the first time.
As explained during the presentation, the triathlon will take place for the first time in Santander and thus joins the mile and the tennis tournament that will also be held on July 2 from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
After an extensive career of seventeen years in the modalities of karting, touring cars, rallies, GT’s and single-seaters, María de Villota reached her goal in 2012, Formula 1.
On July 3, 2012, she suffered a serious accident during training that caused her severe injuries, and since then the Ana Carolina Díez Mahou Foundation has become the center of her life.
