The Governing Council of the Junta de Extremadura has approved this Wednesday new measures to prevent forest fires, in this case referring to the regions of Gata and Las Hurdes and Monfragüe National Parkwhich add up to a budget of more than 4.7 million euros.
Specifically, as reported by the spokesman for the Junta de Extremadura, Juan Antonio González, in a press conference, he has authorized two orders to the public company Tragsa for the execution of the Peri-urban Plans for the Prevention of Forest Fires in High Areas Risk (ZAR) of Las Hurdes and Gata.

The first of the orders will be carried out in the municipalities and farmhouses (ZAR) of Hurdes and in the towns of Robledillo de Gata and Descargamaría for an amount of 3,888,078 euros, 100% co-financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience.
Sierra de Gata
The second will affect towns of Acebo, Eljas, Santibáñez el Alto and Valverde del Fresno, framed in the ZAR of Sierra de Gata, for an amount of 671,147 euros, 80 percent co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) .
The purpose of these plans is to establish specific measures for the prevention of forest fires in the peri-urban environment of local entities, in order to ensure the confinement, removal or evacuation of the population.
The ZAR localities with large amounts of fuel close to the urban center, as well as complications in terms of fire prevention and extinction, derived among other factors from the orography of the land.
Monfragüe
The regional Executive has also given the green light to a commission to the public company Tragsatec for the drafting of the execution project of the Defense Plan against Forest Fires of the ZAR of the Monfragüe National Park and the Prevention Plans of the mountains located in the same , with a budget of 158,002 euros, 80% co-financed by FEADE.
