Madrid, Apr 11 (EFE).- The doctors of Galicia have been on an indefinite strike since midnight, which is in addition to the one resumed yesterday by the toilets of Ceuta and Melilla after the Easter break.
In parallel, this Tuesday six public hospital laboratories in Madrid, but which are privately managed (those of Henares, Infanta Sofía, Infanta Cristina, del Tajo, del Sureste and Infanta Leonor), also join a three-day strike called by the UGT union.
GALICIA
It is the State Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM) who has called the strike of doctors in Galicia, a stoppage that parties such as the BNG and PSdeG justify by considering that “there are reasons” and on the contrary, the PP sees it with “a certain lack of understanding”.
The conveners allege the “galloping deterioration” of Galician public health, the dignity of the professionals and the safety of the patients, at the same time that they claim 35 hours a week, equalization of the price of the hour on call to the rest of the autonomous communities, extend the specific complement and update the continuous care modules.
CEUTA AND MELILLA
Given the lack of agreement between the strike committee and the directors of the National Institute of Health Management (Ingesa), the indefinite strike continues in the autonomous cities, which has caused more than 1,600 canceled consultations and 120 scheduled surgeries, as well as the cancellation of anesthesia, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, neurology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and traumatology consultations.
Among the demands, the specialist doctors call for the renewal of technical equipment, the revision and improvement of the professional career, among other points.
The group of primary care doctors will also go on strike this Tuesday because they do not have enough time to properly care for patients. This group has asked for the updating of the means and the operation of 061/SUAP, which has been “blocked” since 2007.
MADRID
A strike will paralyze for three days – April 11, 12 and 13 – the routine activity of the Henares, Infanta Sofía, Infanta Cristina, Tajo, Sureste and Infanta Leonor hospitals and 170 health centers, which could mean more of 20,000 daily tests that will stop being carried out, as the UGT union has warned in a statement.
For its part, the Ministry of Health considers that “the labor dispute at the central laboratory is a matter that concerns the concessionary company -the temporary union of companies (UTE) Unilabs and Ribera Salud- and the workers”. The reasons for the strike, according to the UGT, are “the inclusion of the mandatory subrogation article in the private clinic agreement”, which the workers reject. EFE
