Zaragoza (EFE).- The Aspanoa association of parents of children with cancer has once again prepared an unorthodox exhibition, which reaches its twenty-eighth edition, with works donated jointly by 99 contemporary artists and art galleries with the aim of raising funds for the fight against childhood cancer.
The IAACC Pablo Serrano, after the small parenthesis of the previous edition, hosts this collective solidarity show that will remain open until April 21 and in which all the exhibited works are for sale with prices ranging from 150 to 6,500 euros. .
The president of Aspanoa, Gabriel Tirado, together with the Ministers of Education, Culture and Tourism and of Health, Felipe Faci and Sira Repollés, respectively, the artist Georges Ward, whose work serves as the cover of the 2023 catalogue, and a good number of artists who have donated their works have inaugurated this exhibition today.
Aspanoa, the association that helps children with cancer and their families in Aragon, has once again brought together numerous artists to continue their work in support of those affected by this disease and their environment.
Almost one hundred children and more than 350 relatives attended
Gabriel Tirado recalled that in 2022 the association cared for 197 children and 368 relatives of affected minors who were provided with social, psychological and economic support, in addition to currently having four research projects underway through the Research Institute Sanitaria de Aragón and the Institute of Carboquímica of the CSIC, based in Zaragoza, for an amount of 380,000 euros.
However, Gabriel Tirado has been emphatic: “There is much to be done”, although he has thanked them for the collaboration they have to develop their social work.
He also stressed that it is a solidarity show that is “vital” for Aspanoa to carry out its work against childhood cancer.
“We are excited to bring together a hundred artists committed to our cause for another year,” he said, some of whom have been supporting them since the first edition.
Tirado has valued that for the social success of this exhibition, the collaboration of the Government of Aragon is “essential”, which provides a space in the IAACC Pablo Serrano for the celebration of the activity, with the collaboration of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Ballesol .
Six Aragón Goya Awards among the solidarity
Although it is a highly varied sample of styles, among the works that can be seen at the IAACC Pablo Serrano are six Aragón Goya prize-winners (Pedro Avellaned, Natalio Bayo, Julia Dorado, Rafael Navarro, Teresa Ramón and Juan José Vera).
And also many other famous artists such as Esperanza Altuzarra, Eva Armisén, Jose Antonio Barrios, Jose Beulas, David Callau, Aurora Charlo, Ignacio Fortun, Alejandro Monge, Victor Mira, Pillar More or Pillar Urban.
