San Sebastián (EFE).- The mother of Ekain Andrés, the 25-year-old young man from Gipuzkoa who died in a motorcycle accident in Vietnam, remembers disconsolately the “joy” his son overflowed when, for the first time this year, he decided to embark on a trip only as a “backpacker” to tour Southeast Asia for several weeks.
huge void
Elena Iglesias, Ekain’s mother, laments, in statements to EFE, the enormous void left by the death of her son. An “intelligent, clever and cheerful” boy with “hundreds of friends”, who was studying distance advertising and who a couple of months ago decided to fulfill a dream that was shattered this Friday, when his family received notice of the death of he.
Honors in life
“Ekain has passed the game of life with honors.” He “gave zero value to money, enjoyed his friends, sports for fun, always surrounded by people.” “He was the life of the party, outgoing, sociable, talkative, funny and always joking,” says his mother.
The mother of the young man who died in Vietnam also points out that he was a “very intelligent” boy, a “walking encyclopedia” and that he liked “quantum physics documentaries”.
A member and fan of Real Sociedad, the young man from Aretxabaleta (Gipuzkoa) took advantage of this trip to get to know each other and develop his “spiritual” facet, which, according to his family, was the “only thing he needed to complete”. “This trip has been the culmination of it,” he says.
I had a dream
“Ekain has done what he wanted to do. He had this dream and he has almost fulfilled it, ”says his mother through tears. The young man, born in 1997, had planned to return to Spain from Vietnam on the 14th, although he did not tell his friends the date of his arrival to give them a “surprise”.
After several weeks with stops in countries like Greece, Ekain arrived in Asia to tour different areas of Thailand, Bali and Vietnam, where he rented a motorcycle with which he suffered the accident that ended his life.
Repatriation procedures
Now his family awaits the repatriation of his body, although his mother points out that they do not know when it could be since “the procedures” will not be able to start until next week.
At the moment, his parents and his sister are awaiting the arrival of the body in contact with the Spanish Embassy and do not plan to travel to Vietnam.
In any case, they await the arrival of the corpse to carry out an act in memory of this young man from Gipuzkoa who, according to his mother, “almost fulfilled his dream”.
Very good post. I will be experiencing some of these issues as
