Bilbao (EFE).- The president of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, has claimed this Sunday “the freedom of Euskadi” as a nation in Europe.
In addition, he has asked nationalist voters for more mayors and junteros from his party to “advance as a nation.”
Ortuzar has intervened in the celebration of the PNV of the Aberri Eguna, Day of the Basque Homeland, in the Plaza Nueva in Bilbao.
It has been an act in which the lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has also intervened before thousands of members and sympathizers of that formation.
Ortuzar: The North of the PNV is the freedom of Euskadi
Before them Ortuzar has assured that “the north of the PNV is the freedom of Euskadi”.
He has reflected on the solidity and unity of Europe, because “although its political unity is very slow, it is still in the hands of state egoism and has not finished finding a fit for national realities without a state such as Euskadi”.
Without that joint action against the invasion of Ukraine, “things would have been very different and, surely, much worse.”
In addition, he stressed that “Europe is the largest area of freedom, respect for human rights and social justice in the world.”
For this reason the PNV “is pro-European and is always with Europe, democracy and progress. Euskadi, a European Nation!”, he claimed.
He has affirmed that the celebration of the Aberri Eguna this year “has an electoral aroma” because there are 50 days left until the elections on May 28.
He has encouraged the militants of his party to respond to his “bugle call” before these elections so that the PNV continues to lead the institutions.
“If we obtain good results, we will be taking another step, going up one more step on the path of Euskadi towards its freedom.
With more representatives of the PNV in the mayoralties and the general meetings “it is guaranteed that the Basque Country will advance as a nation”, he has sentenced.
The PNV is “an authentic party” of native nationals, it has said, in front of others, that “when an election approaches, there are usually exercises in transformism of parties or coalitions to see if they steal any vote”, in reference to EH Bildu.

Ortuzar has congratulated the lehendakari for his management at the helm of the Basque Government and has ensured that the Basques feel “confidence” in their institutions.
Despite “all the uncertainties, the Basque Country continues to move forward”.
He has highlighted that “the very good employment data” indicates that the return “to levels of before the 2008 crisis”.
Urkullu highlights the growth of Euskadi
In the same sense, the lehendakari has assured that the Basque Country is “managing to grow”, with a GDP that “has increased by 30% in ten years”.
In addition, for the first time, exports exceeded 32,000 million euros and there are already almost a million Basques affiliated with Social Security, as a “letter of introduction” for the management of the PNV at the head of the institutions.
Urkullu has also defended “working step by step” and “on all fronts” with the commitment to advance in self-government, which “reflects a way of preserving identity, advancing well-being and coexistence, and building a differentiated political community and singular”.
Thus, it has reiterated its commitment to “continue updating and renewing” the current self-government framework “in Euskadi and outside Euskadi”.
