Madrid (EFE) road, almost 2.5% more than last year.
In this second phase of the traffic device, which will end at midnight on Monday, April 10, as that holiday is in six autonomous communities, it is expected that 1.5 million vehicles will travel by road every day.
Traffic appeals to self-responsibility
The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) calls for prudence, above all, after a first phase in which 14 deaths have been recorded between last Friday and this Monday, more than half of those who died in 2022 during the entire Holy Week, which was 27.
He insists once again on calling for prudence behind the wheel: 0 alcohol, drive at an appropriate speed, take breaks every two hours or 200 km, put on a seatbelt, etc.
For this device, the DGT has all the means at its disposal, including both technicians (fixed and mobile speed control radars, helicopters and drones, as well as cameras and camouflaged vans for speed control). use of cell phones and seat belts) like humans.
However, the general director of Traffic, Pere Navarro, appeals to the “self-responsibility” of citizens.
“You cannot depend on there being a guard who saw you, caught you and reported you. This is too important to be left alone in the hands of the Government and the police”, warns Navarro, who believes, however, that “we are doing it reasonably well”.
“It’s taken us all a long time to get here, let’s not mess it up on the road now.”
Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, the highest intensity
