Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The Newport group and the Lopesan hotel company plan to build the Dreamland studios in Telde (Gran Canaria), with the aim of making them “the largest audiovisual and technological ‘hub’ in the south of Europe”.
In a statement released this Tuesday, the promoters of the project detail that the Dreamland Canarias studios will have a 6,000-square-meter filming set, the “largest in Europe”, a 2,500-m2 auxiliary set and a 1,600-m2 water tank for film “complex scenes of the high seas or deep sea”.
In addition, the complex will have 5,000 square meters to house sets, props, and costumes, and a 3,500 m2 building for production and post-production in two dimensions, 3D, and special effects, with a projection room where you can check the end result of the work.
The space will also house a research and development laboratory, a technological leisure theme park with immersive experiences and a multidisciplinary amphitheatre.
The Dreamland studios, which have also tried to establish themselves in Fuerteventura, not only aspire to capture filming, but also to become “a space where virtual and augmented reality works will be created, as well as video games including triple A, and artificial intelligence tools will be used. ”.
“As an ally, Dreamland Studios Canarias, will have the Alisios supercomputer, a team that will offer high-quality rendering for films and that, with its power, will allow calculation operations to be carried out at the level of the needs of this industry”, affirm its promoters.
As for the theme park, it is proposed to have virtual reality systems that show experiences to visitors such as a walk through Los Tilos de Moya (Gran Canaria), a paragliding flight from Mount Teide or a parachute jump over Roque Nublo (Gran Canaria). canary).
Newport and Lopesan recall that in the last decade the Canary Islands have hosted more than 164 large filming sessions, which have resulted in an investment of 224 million euros on the islands, with the hiring of 15,300 people. EFE
