Granada, (EFE).- Several dozen people have gathered this Saturday at the gates of the Granada Science Park against the dismissal of workers from the first interactive museum in Andalusia, specifically those dedicated to the vivarium service.
The concentrates, who have carried a banner that read “For the continuity of the vivarium workers. Solutions now!”, They explained that, since last March 10 and “precipitately”, the service was terminated because this was the date on which the contract with the company that provided it expired.
The service was, therefore, “suspended”, something that the park has attributed, they indicate, to an “error of deadlines” for not having released the next tender on time.
“This situation is expected to take at least four months while waiting for this new award to be resolved. This error not only leaves the service suspended for these four months, but it does not give any guarantee to the continuity of the personnel who have been working on this work for years ”, the workers of the Science Park have alerted.
The vivarium service is in charge of ensuring the well-being of the museum’s animals, such as birds of prey, butterflies, fish and the rest of the terrariums distributed throughout the different facilities, with the exception of the Biodome, which is managed by another company.
Novelty is a potential danger for birds of prey
“We are talking about living beings that need certain care. And given this, the park offers a very small and insufficient contract to guarantee animal welfare. With this contract, attention to the public and the flight workshops are also lost, which is the fundamental pillar of this service, since we do everything with the aim of educating for the conservation of biodiversity and the natural environment ”, he argued.
The concentrates have recalled that birds of prey are “very scary” animals and that any novelty is usually interpreted as a potential danger, and they have asked that administrative and legal tools be sought to restore the service as soon as possible and a continuity of the template.
IU, which had encouraged participation in the concentration this Saturday, has demanded that the Board, in charge of the contracting table of the Park’s executive commission, include the subrogation of personnel in the specifications.
For its part, the PSOE has also supported the concentration of dismissed personnel, something that it considers a “nonsense” of the Junta de Andalucía with Granada and with science, derived from what it considers to be another example of the “mismanagement” of the Government by Juanma Moreno. EFE
