Oviedo (EFE).- The operation deployed in Asturias to deal with the forest fires in Asturias has been reinforced this Thursday with two seaplanes from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO).
One of the aircraft will work on the fire located in Valdés, in the Caborno/Leiriella area, while the other will work in Tineo, in the Foyedo/Navelgas focus, the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPA) has reported. .
In addition, the mobilization of a forest fire reinforcement brigade from Cáceres was also requested, which will thus be added to that of Tineo, to act in Villayón.
Together with the two seaplanes provided by MITECO, the operation has a total of five helicopters: one for each brigade, two from SEPA and another for reconnaissance from the Military Emergency Unit, which yesterday traveled from its base in León to the Tineo area with 95 troops and 40 vehicles.
At this time, 107 simultaneous forest fires are registered in Asturias in more than thirty councils, although many of them are still small and in high scrubland areas, according to sources of the operation.
Efforts are focused mainly on the western area, which is the area of greatest concern, in the councils of Tineo, Allande, Valdés and Villayón, as well as in Piloña, in the eastern part of the community. EFE
