Pamplona (EFE).- EH Bildu has organized the aberri eguna (day of the Basque homeland) which will be next April 9 and will have a festive program with children’s entertainment, concerts and the demonstration that will leave from the Golem cinemas at 12 :00 hours.
The spokesperson for the Abertzale coalition in the Parliament of Navarra, Bakartxo Ruiz, presented the acts this Wednesday in Pamplona and explained that it is a day that will serve to “reaffirm the commitment to building a Basque republic of free and equal”.
“We are in a moment of uncertainty, it is not easy for a people like ours, divided and at the mercy of decisions made by others and others. If we look back, Euskal Herria has been able to overcome difficult times, we have managed to maintain our national awareness and give it new impetus”, he declared.
“The Basque Country of today is going to do it again, but it will be more necessary than ever to keep its conscience alive, to continue walking the path towards national sovereignty”, he added.
At 12:00 p.m. the events will begin with the demonstration that will leave from the Golem cinemas. Starting at 1:30 p.m. there will be street entertainment from Bosquecillo with pipers, txistularis, bigheads or dances. From 4:00 p.m. in the Plaza de los Burgos there will be children’s activities and from 4:30 p.m. in the Plaza del Castillo, concerts by Arkada Social, La Furia and Trikiteens.
“This year, those of us who feel nationalist have an important date on April 9,” Ruiz concluded. Sinn Fein’s main spokesman will attend the meeting on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday agreements in the north of Ireland.
