The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has announced that Meta has registered the application for the Project of Singular Interest (PSI) for its data center in Talavera, a project that “will be a before and after” for the city and for Castilla-La Mancha.
García-Page has highlighted that the facilities that Meta is planning in Talavera are “one of the three major projects in Spain” involving large international investments, projects “of a large scale, but very sensitive”, he added
Meta requested the declaration of regional interest in 2022
On March 4, 2022, Meta applied to the Castilla-La Mancha Development Council for the declaration of regional interest for the Meta Data Center Campus in Talavera de la Reina, which will house the company’s operations and information technology equipment.
On June 7, the Governing Council of Castilla-La Mancha declared the project of regional interest and that same month the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha published the agreement of the Governing Council declaring the Meta Data Center Campus project of regional interest in Talavera de la Reina and set a maximum period of twelve months for the promoter to present the Project of Singular Interest (PSI) along with the request for its processing, which is what it did this Wednesday.
The project is made up of more than 7,000 pages and its registration in the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha is “an essential step” for the arrival of a company that is expected to attract others to Talavera de la Reina, said García-Page.
