Seville, (EFE).- Andalusian exports have reached the historical record figure of 3,206 million in January 2023, which represents a growth of 6.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, and makes it the best month for January of history, since there are comparable data (1995).
In this month, increases have been registered in six of the eight Andalusian provinces, the largest in Málaga, Huelva and Cádiz; and in the first five markets, with the United States, Japan and India as the countries that have grown the most out of the top 30, the Board has reported in a statement.
This year-on-year growth of Andalusian exports in the month of January is especially significant if one takes into account that it is based on the result of January 2022, which showed an increase of 36% over the same month of 2021.
In this way, the Andalusian foreign sector begins 2023 with the same growth dynamics with which it closed 2022, which concluded with a historical record of exports, worth 42,958 million and an increase of 24.3%.
According to the latest data made public this morning by Extenda, a public company belonging to Andalucía TRADE, the United States and Portugal are the markets that are growing the most in the Top 10.
Imports grow by 18.2%
In the case of the US, it is 80% more than in January 2022, reaching 283 million; figures never before reached that place it as the fifth destination in Andalusia and in terms of Portugal, the third market, sales grew by 36% to 295 million.
Imports made by Andalusia also increased in the first month of the year to 3,671 million, 18.2% more than in January 2021, with the Andalusian coverage rate standing at 87%.
In the first month of 2023, growth has been registered in six of the top 10 exporting chapters of Andalusia, with the highest increases in sectors related to industry.
The strongest rise in Andalusian exports corresponds to the chapter of various products of the chemical industries, fourth in sales, with 209 million euros (6.5% of the total) and an increase of 68%, and is followed by fuel minerals and oils, first in value, with 538 million (16.8%) and an advance of 44%.
Copper and its manufactures also grew, 35%, to reach 169 million (5.3%); and electrical machinery, appliances and material, which reached 126 million euros (3.9%), with an increase of 21.6%.
Fats, animal and vegetable oils
At the same time, among agri-food products, the greatest boost was experienced by olive oil, which registered year-on-year growth of 10.6% to 216 million, thanks to the good pace of market prices and the rise in exports in its main world destinations.
It is the most exported product from Andalusia and is part of the chapter on animal and vegetable fats and oils, which together grew by 5.6% in January to 259 million (8.1%), being the third chapter in sales.
Likewise, fruit exports, from fifth place, grew by 17.8% to 196 million euros (6.1%), and only those of vegetables recorded a slight decrease, of 0.4%, but remained as the second chapter in sales (16.2% of the total) with only 0.4% less, to register 18 million in exports.
Within the first 10 chapters, plastics and its manufactures also experienced a small decrease of 1.7%, which billed 63 million abroad (2% of the total); slag and ash minerals, with 96 million exported (3%) and a decrease of 34%; and the iron and steel function, with 84 million (2.6%) and a drop of 34%.
