Madrid (EFE).- Inflation in Spain rose 6% in the interannual rate in February, one tenth less than the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on February 28 and one tenth more than in the previous month, mainly due to the historic rise in food of 16.6%.
The group of food and non-alcoholic beverages has increased by more than one point over that of the previous month, and this behavior is influenced by the increase in the price of legumes and vegetables and meat, as well as a lower price of fish and shellfish compared to the last year.
The INE also revises downward -one tenth- the annual variation rate of core inflation -index excluding unprocessed food and energy products-, to 7.6%, one tenth more than that registered in January and the highest since December 1986.
