Barcelona (EFE).- The Prosecutor’s Office has requested that former Barcelona coaches Luis Enrique Martínez and Ernesto Valverde testify as witnesses in the Negreira case, judicial sources confirmed to EFE.
The prosecutor wants both coaches to be summoned to testify so that they confirm or deny that there were reports on the profile of the referees that José María Enríquez Negreira, who was then vice president of the Technical Referees Committee, allegedly prepared for Barça.
Enríquez Negreira invoiced these alleged reports through the company Dasnil 95 SL, which invoiced FC Barcelona 6.6 million euros between 2001 and 2018, when the Barça entity terminated its commercial relationship with the former collegiate.
Valverde already declared a few days ago at a press conference that he is not aware of these reports nor did he access them as Barça coach.
Luis Enrique, former Spanish selector, has not yet ruled on the case.
The president of the CSD on the Negreira case: “We will appear at the right time”
The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Franco, confirmed that the body will appear “at the right time” in the Negreira case, once the Prosecutor’s Office has denounced Barcelona and its former presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell for the alleged millionaire payments to the former arbitration leader.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a complaint before the Investigating Court and has to admit it for processing. At the moment that this occurs, we will appear in this case, ”he said this Monday on the Ana Rosa program on Telecinco.
Franco’s announcement comes after the Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint on the 10th before Barcelona’s investigating court number 1, after the club’s payments to José María Enríquez Negreira to “favor” the Barça club in the “taking of decisions of the referees” in the matches he played.
