Toledo (EFE) The facts is an “absolutely isolated” event in a neighborhood where “stigmatization” will not be allowed.
The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca, and the mayoress of Toledo, Milagros Tolón, chaired the meeting of the Local Security Board on Monday, which was also attended -exceptionally- by neighborhood representatives from the Santa María de Benquerencia neighborhood and in which they have analyzed the events that occurred this weekend.
In police units the detainee for the fatal assault
The man detained for the fatal assault on a 31-year-old man is in police stations and there is another detainee for attacking the authority who has been released with charges, according to the government delegate, who has not provided further details of the investigation and he has only asserted that all the assumptions involved are localized.
Tierraseca and Tolón have agreed that it is an “absolutely isolated” event and have supported the actions of the State Security Forces and Corps, while the Government delegate has offered data on the decrease in crimes in Toledo 18 percent, a percentage that reaches 81 percent in the case of injuries.
He has offered his condolences and solidarity to the family and friends of the victim, and wishes for a speedy recovery to the nine national police officers who suffered minor injuries during the house search, six of whom were from the operational subgroup of the Madrid Police Intervention Unit and the other three from the Toledo Provincial Police Station.
Tierraseca has supported the work of the National Police both in the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the violent death and in the house search.
“They have acted very professionally and in record time so that the evidence of the facts does not disappear,” he stressed.
They ask for citizen collaboration to identify those who attacked the national police
He has indicated that his action has been that of a State governed by law and, in this sense, has asked the residents of the Santa María de Benquerencia neighborhood to help them carry out their work, which is to prosecute crimes, arrest the perpetrators , carry out the appropriate procedures and make them available to justice.
The Government delegate has rejected any violent action by “a very minority part of the citizenry” against the actions of the police, since it means altering coexistence and hindering the police investigation.
It has also urged the relatives, friends and relatives of the victim to “restore normality” in the neighborhood and provide testimonies that can help the investigation.
Normal situation this Monday in the neighborhood
Francisco Tierraseca has made it clear that this Monday the situation in the Santa María de Benquerencia neighborhood is normal and, in fact, there are no extraordinary police operations but rather the “permanent one that is constant every day of the year.”
He has applauded the “civism” of the vast majority of citizens regarding “absolutely isolated events that do not reflect in any way the normality of day-to-day life” and in this regard he has said that the events have occurred in Toledo “as they could have produced in any city in the region or in Spain”.
For her part, the mayoress has stressed that she is a neighbor of Santa María de Benquerencia, has offered her condolences to the victim’s family, has stressed that it has been an isolated incident and has stressed that she will not allow it to be stigmatized a neighborhood that is “safe” as is the entire city.
The mayoress of Toledo asks that no neighborhood be stigmatized
“As mayor and as a neighbor of the neighborhood, I am not going to let any neighborhood be stigmatized,” said Tolón, who has criticized the “interests” that may exist in this regard, among others of a political nature.
The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha has provided data on the drop in crime in Toledo to “counteract some hoaxes” that have arisen, and the mayoress has also shown support for the neighbors for the “unpleasant” comments, from people and entities, about their neighborhood.
Tolón has advanced that in little more than a month the works of the house of culture of Santa María de Benquerencia will be finished, a building where there will be space for a neighborhood police station of the Local Police and the National Police, not because there is greater conflict , but “to be more operational” in a neighborhood that has grown a lot, exceeds 26,000 inhabitants, houses the new University Hospital and is located seven kilometers from the urban center.
Milagros Tolón has indicated that this project does not arise now, as a result of the events that occurred, but that “we have been working for months” on this idea that “very soon” will be a reality.
