Seville, Mar 11 (EFE).- The Spanish Association of Consumers has called for more controls and transparency to safeguard the name and “brand” of olive oil after the withdrawal of products from Andalusian companies in Extremadura and has recommended not to consume those batches .
This consumer organization has demanded new measures after the General Directorate of Public Health of the Extremadura Health Service has activated a food alert for mislabeled oil from Andalusian companies.
This alert has caused the immobilization of large quantities of oil that had been put up for sale in stores, warehouses, markets and even gas stations in Extremadura.
Do not consume affected brands
The Spanish Association of Consumers has called for exhaustive controls and total transparency on the results of the analyzes carried out on the seized product, considering that it damages the prestige of olive oil and the work of companies that act diligently.
According to the information provided by the Association, the companies responsible for the seized oil did not have a health registration number.
The brands affected by this food alert are Acebuche, Virgen del Guadiana, Cortijo del Oro, La Campiña de Andalucía, Galiaceite 2022, La Abadía, Villa de Jerez, Don Jaén Aceite 2019 and Imperio Andaluz.
As a precautionary measure, until the circumstances of the seizure are clarified, the Spanish Association of Consumers has recommended not consuming the oil of these brands and has asked for confidence and tranquility in the face of the widespread quality work carried out by the sector. EFE
