Granada, (EFE).- Different groups of Christian feminists have mobilized this Sunday in Granada, Seville, Córdoba and Huelva, as well as other cities in the rest of Spain, to demand equality between men and women within the Church.
In the case of Granada, as explained to EFE by the spokesperson for the conveners, Laura Guillén, dozens of people have participated, who have gathered this afternoon on Calle Oficios, in the surroundings of the historic Royal Chapel, which houses the remains of The Catholic kings.
Coinciding with the celebration of Women’s Day this coming March 8, the network of feminist believing women from different movements and religious communities has thus claimed equality between men and women within the Church.
Women’s Revolt
“We want visibility equal to that of men. This is our fight, following the example set by other Catholic women, both from the rest of Spain and from different countries”, explained the conveners, who have joined the global event against the inequality of women in the Church.
The motto chosen by the platform “Women’s Revolt in the Church” for this protest has been “We walk together for equality and dignity in the Church”.
During this year, the Women’s Revolt has raised its voice for women and other victims of abuse in the Church, has asked for their space and co-responsibility in the synodal process and, in parallel, has actively participated in the Synod on Women convened by the “Catholic Women’s Council”, as part of the commission that brought the proposals to the Vatican.
