Madrid (EFE).- The head of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his Portuguese counterpart, Antonio Costa, will chair the 34th summit between the two countries on March 15 in Lanzarote, in which, in addition to analyzing bilateral relations, they will address pending issues of the European agenda.
Spain and Portugal hold a summit of these characteristics on a regular basis, usually every year, headed by their heads of government and several of their ministers.
On this occasion it is up to Spain to organize it after last year it was held in the Portuguese town of Viana do Castelo, and Sánchez has decided that it will be held on the Canary Island of Lanzarote, and, specifically, in Los Jameos the Water.
The summit will focus on the day of March 15, but the day before Sánchez and Costa will visit the José Saramago House-Museum.
Less than four months before Spain assumes the semi-annual presidency of the European Union, the priorities of that mandate will be one of the main issues to be discussed at the meeting.
In order to find out the positions of the rest of the leaders on issues that are being negotiated in the EU and that should be finalized or closed during the Spanish presidency, Sánchez is touring various European countries. EFE
