Ourense, Mar 1 (EFE).- The students of the Cardenal Cisneros school, in Ourense, had to be evacuated this afternoon after a wall collapsed, possibly due to the rupture of a pipe, emergency sources have informed Efe .
The event took place around four in the afternoon, and both students and teachers have been forced to leave the facilities when the patio flooded.
Several fire departments have come to the place, as well as the Local Police.
Apparently, some works were being carried out in that area; however, the investigation remains open to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
Neighbors in the area have told the press that these works have been paralyzed for weeks, which is why they have questioned whether these works are the cause of the pipe break.
“We saw how water began to fall and the wall fell. We were all going up to class at that moment when it fell”, parents and students from the school have told Efe, who, at the gates of the center, have said they do not know when classes will be able to resume.
This collapse, with falling rubble and stones, is the second that has occurred in the city in recent months, after the tragedy that occurred last October when a student from the Julio Prieto Nespereira high school died and another was injured after the wall collapsed from the locker room of that center.
