“I’m sad that I won’t be able to compete in Indian Wells or Miami. It makes me very sad not to be there. I will miss all my American fans, but hope to see you later this year during the summer swing”, Nadal writes on his Twitter account.
“I took some time off, I started rehabilitation, gym and physiotherapy as the doctors told me. Getting ready to return in the best conditions”, adds the Spaniard.
Nadal’s injury that has dragged on since January
In the last Australian Open, in mid-January, Nadal injured the iliopsoas in his left leg, and he has a recovery period of between six and eight weeks.
At the beginning of February, Nadal announced that he would not be able to play due to injury in an exhibition that he had scheduled for March 5 in Las Vegas (USA) against his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz.
That withdrawal had left his participation in Indian Wells, the first ATP 1,000 of the season and which will be held from March 8 to 19 in the Californian desert, up in the air, until this Tuesday it was confirmed that he will finally not be able to be there. He will not be in the next ATP 1,000 either, the one in Miami, from March 22 to April 2.
