Alberto Ferreras | Zamora (EFE).- The children’s writer Sandra Alonso discovers “The mystery of the pizza” in her latest book, which goes on sale this Monday and with which she shows how you can live from the story in all its facets and, what It has much more merit to do it in the Spanish province with fewer children among its population, the only one that does not reach 90 from 0 to 14 years per thousand inhabitants.
In Zamora, a place where a priori no one would think of trying to make a living from the story with this demographic panorama, Sandra Alonso began her foray into children’s literature through social networks, then as an author, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. covid-19 also as a specialized bookstore and now it has closed the circle with its own publishing house.

The first book of short stories fully produced by the new publishing label, called Davao Ediciones, is entitled “The mystery of the pizza” and is the seventeenth published by the writer Sandra Alonso in just over four years.
In it, he has teamed up with the Galician illustrator Blanca Millán to introduce young readers to the world of geometric shapes through a story in which “in the end it is the protagonist’s teacher who resolves his great doubt and shows that the School can also be fun and mysteries and investigations can arise in it,” he said in an interview with EFE.
Andrew’s story
The story begins the day when Andrés, after leaving class and going to eat with his cousins, realizes that the pizza is round, cut into triangular pieces and the box in which it is distributed is square.
In fact, the first copies of the story put up for sale in Zamora, in the children’s bookstore of the author and publisher herself, are delivered in a pizza box along with various gifts.
The book is distributed throughout Spain and from this Monday it can be purchased both in bookstores and on internet sales portals, although only in physical format, without an electronic book edition.

In this regard, Sandra Alonso has declared herself a fervent defender of the traditional paper format because, in addition to being something tangible, it allows the little ones to “work their motor skills by turning the pages and feeling the touch” of paper and paste. .
For this reason, in his opinion, if the book were to disappear, children’s books would be the last to die, although he has considered that this will not happen and that, above the competition of electronic books, is that of video games, in which ” You press a button and everything appears done, you don’t have to think, and there comes an age when everything digital is easier”, he reflected.
In addition to revealing the mystery of pizza in her latest publication, Sandra Alonso has also revealed what in her opinion are the keys to success in the world of stories.
Child’s eyes to live from the story
“You have to have those eyes of a child, get into their world and not lose the child you were,” she explained, to confess that the feedback from being a children’s bookstore helps her a lot, since “there are things that you don’t even consider and They are the ones who give you clues because they pay attention to even the smallest thing and, whether you like it or not, they are going to tell you, they are the most critical”.
Another secret that this author from Zamora discovers is that of success with a children’s bookstore in a province with hardly any children.
Being specialized and offering some 8,000 different titles has led many Zamoranos to discover or re-engage as adults in a world like that of children’s literature and think about it when choosing a gift for children.
In this way, he has achieved that “My children’s stories”, the name of his bookstore and his profile on social networks (only on Instagram and Facebook he has more than 56,000 followers), win the battle against video consoles and electronic games. EFE
