Valencia (EFE).- Some 15,000 Valencian fans crowded this Saturday at the gates of Mestalla and without entering the interior of the stadium to see Valencia-Athletic until minute 19 -which coincides with the year the club was founded (1919)- to show their opposition to the immobility of Peter Lim, the club’s largest shareholder, who was asked to leave, and thus denounce the social, economic, institutional and sporting drift in which Valencia has been mired for at least three seasons.
The sporting situation that the team is going through, which began the match against Athletic in relegation places, the disaffection of the club towards its fans, or the uncertain situation of the future stadium, whose works have not resumed since Meriton is the largest shareholder, have been the main causes of this concentration, which brought together more than 15,000 people according to the organizers.
Banners of “Lim Go Home” and yellow balloons led a rally with three main banners by Libertad VCF, organizer of the rally: one with the face of the club’s president LayHoon Chan and the word “liar”, another addressed to the politicians, who were assured that “without solutions, there are no votes” and a last one that asked Lim to sell, with #LimGoHome.
These were complemented by others from fans who claimed: “We are indeed the DNA of the VCF”, “Lie Hoon”, in a play on words with which he accused the president LayHoon Chan of being a liar, or another in which he asked Lim to sell in various languages, from Spanish to Japanese, including Mandarin Chinese.
The influx of people around Mestalla forced the buses of both teams, which normally enter the Mestalla through Avenida de Suecia, to enter through Avenida Aragón to avoid possible altercations, which, however, did not occur at any time in protest.
Carlos Pavía, economic vice president of Libertad VCF, told EFE that this demonstration seeks “global repercussions”, that “what is happening in Valencia is displayed”, because the group defends that “the only thing that bothers Lim is damaging his image and that of his friend -the representative- Jorge Mendes».
For this reason, he asked to “involve the political class” in this “fight” to “recover Valencia”, since “they are the only ones who can contribute so that Lim sells”, in addition to “pressure so that CaixaBank gets wet.”
Asked if this type of protest would continue, he affirmed that yes, that all the matches in Mestalla will continue, although it will be studied “little by little to see how”, because “they have a lot of work making banners and they involve a very large financial outlay”.
However, he assured that Libertad VCF “will not stop until the end of the season”, because the objective is to “press”, aware, they affirm, that there are investment groups that want to buy the club: “The problem is that he wants to win money, but he has broken the toy,” said Pavía.
«Valencia is worth 7 million if you subtract its assets and net worth minus its liabilities, so asking for 250 or 300 million is asking for something that is not worth it. If you have broken a 100,000-euro car, you cannot continue asking for that same price”, highlighted the Valencian fan.
Thus, he argued that Libertad VCF is in favor of “democratizing” the club and that “whoever comes,” they will continue to “supervise” and work to achieve the figure of the “independent director” in the club to achieve it.
