Bendodo says that Sánchez wants to change the law for electoral damage

In an act in Torremolinos (Málaga) he stated that Sánchez is not acting because he is concerned about the 4,000 convictions for rape or sexual assault that -according to the judges- could be reduced by this rule, but rather what moves him are the figures from the surveys electoral.

The popular leader has specified that the polls indicate that his actions have created a large electoral hole for him, that “he has no recovery”, and that now he does want to modify the law, “not for the safety of women, because it hurts him electorally ».
He describes him as an “unworthy president” for changing the norm when he sees that it affects him electorally.

Bendodo says that Sánchez, instead of dismissing the Minister of Justice, should do so with the Minister of Equality, which is the one that promoted this law; he must acknowledge the “serious” mistake made, even though he believes that “her arrogance prevents her from doing so”, and apologize to women who see that their sexual offenders are on the street or have seen their sentences reduced.

He believes that the aforementioned norm is not the fault of Podemos, a government partner of the PSOE, since socialist ministers warned Pedro Sánchez of the consequences and “looked the other way” so as not to stress the Government.

More than 500 rapists or assaulters with reduced sentences

For this reason, it blames the President of the Government for the fact that more than 500 rapists or sexual offenders have seen their sentences reduced and more than 50 have been released from prison by this law.

Remember that the PP registered in December a proposal to reform the rule “to avoid this barbarity” when the figures were lower (63 convicted whose sentences had been reduced and 13 released) and that if they had listened to it then , women would have been “saved” suffering and insecurity.

Elías Bendodo regrets that a government that calls itself feminist is “the one that most endangers the safety of women in the history of democracy in the country.”
