Salamanca (EFE).- The Civil Guard is investigating whether a distraction by a truck driver was the cause of the hit-and-run that this Thursday ended the life of professional cyclist Estela Domínguez, a promise of Spanish cycling and daughter of ex-cyclist Juan Carlos Domínguez.
The main lines of investigation of the event, which occurred yesterday around 6:30 p.m. next to an industrial estate in Salamanca, contemplate as possible causes “distraction” or “glare” due to the low position of the sun at that time of the afternoon, according to explained to Efe sources from the Government Sub-delegation.
Estela Domínguez, from Valladolid, who was 19 years old and was studying at the University of Salamanca (USAL), was training on the N-620 near the Villares de la Reina industrial estate when a truck ran over her and caused her death on the spot .

The young promise of Spanish cycling was the daughter of Juan Carlos Domínguez, a former professional cyclist who went on to win a stage in the Giro d’Italia.
