Madrid (EFE).- Francisco Nicolás Gómez Iglesias, Little Nicolás, sits on the bench this Monday accused of leading a police plot to obtain confidential data that he later used to pose as a member of the Government, a cause for which the Prosecutor’s Office He asks for the highest penalty: 9 years and 9 months in prison.
The Provincial Court of Madrid begins today the trial, which will be held during six sessions, for what was the main case that was opened against Pequeño Nicolás in the courts after being arrested in October 2014 for posing as a member of the Government and the Center National Intelligence (CNI).
So far Francisco Nicolás Gómez Iglesias has been tried four times, three of which he has been sentenced to a total of 8 years and 2 months in prison, although he has appealed everything to the Supreme Court.
The young man faces the new trial calmly, like the previous ones, and will defend his acquittal, as his defense has specified to EFE.
The other defendants
He sits on the bench with three municipal police officers from Madrid, a civil guard who was then in the Royal House and the one who was the coordinator of Emergencies in the Madrid City Council, Emilio García Grande.
Two of the agents and Little Nicolás had a chat called “National Security Department” in which, according to the summary, the operation was reflected: Little Nicolás asked them for confidential information, such as license plates, and then paid them with “lettuce” or “purple radishes”, in reference to banknotes.
The information he obtained was used to impersonate a high-ranking State official and offer help to third parties in exchange for money, according to the accusations made by the Prosecutor’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office, the Unified Municipal Police Association (APMU) and the City Council. from Madrid.
Podemos recently withdrew as an accusation, understanding that the criminal action is already sufficiently supported by the parties involved.
For this alleged plot, the judge who closed the investigation in 2019 sent Little Nicolás to trial for the alleged crimes of integration into a criminal group, continued crime of discovery and disclosure of secrets and violation of secrets, active and passive bribery and usurpation of functions public.
The request for penalties
The Prosecutor’s Office asks for him the highest sentence that he had requested in the trials held so far: 9 years and 9 months in jail and a fine of 54,000 euros.
For the person in charge of Security, he requests a fine of 4,500 euros for a crime of violation of secrets; for the agents Felipe GS and Jorge GH, he requests 8 years and 6 months in prison in addition to a fine of 11,110 euros; for the civil guard Francisco JSL asks for two years and eight months in prison plus a fine of 5,400 euros.
The Prosecutor’s Office does not request a sentence for the police officer José LGC, but the rest of the accusations do, and the judge keeps him on trial.
The Unified Municipal Police Association (APMU) requests 23 years in prison for Little Nicolás; 9 and a half years for the person in charge of City Security and for agents between 3 and 15 and a half years in prison.
The Madrid City Council requests 10 years in prison for Francisco Nicolás Gómez Iglesias; 5 for the former municipal manager and between 5 years and 8 years and nine months for the agents.
