Logroño, (EFE).- The Government of La Rioja will transfer this year to the City Council of Logroño 2.91 million euros for the financing of investments and public services within the capital agreement, which this 2023 has increased by 3 percent.
The President of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, and the Mayor of Logroño, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, have detailed this Monday, in an informative conference, the content of this agreement, which is expected to be signed throughout the first half of the year.
Andreu has highlighted that the amount consigned for the capital agreement has increased by 7.6 percent throughout that legislature, thanks to the “bet” of the regional Executive for the 174 municipalities of La Rioja.
In this sense, he highlighted that during his tenure the General Directorate for Local Policy has increased its budget by 60%.
The head of the regional Executive has added that, during the period 2025-2018, the regional money for investments in Logroño amounted to 29.76 million euros, while between 2019 and 2022 this figure rose to 41.18 million.
Sagasta and La Villanueva
Among the investments made in Logroño during this term, he mentioned the comprehensive remodeling of the Sagasta Secondary School, with a budget of 22.6 million euros, of which 90% has been financed with European and State funds.
The construction of the new health center in La Villanueva will cost more than 7.2 million euros, in addition to other projects such as the envelope of the Hermanos D’Elhuyar institute, the renovation of the athletics tracks of the Javier sports modernization center Adarraga and the new cycle-pedestrian lanes, has been listed.
In addition, he has alluded to the reconditioning of the San Francisco school as an adult education center for the Plus Ultra entity, the future Intelligence Center of the New Language Economy and other projects to consolidate Logroño as Enópolis, within the Enorregión project.
Education, social services and personnel
The money that the Logroño City Council will receive from the regional administration will be dedicated to financing programs and projects in the field of social services, education, culture and hiring more personnel in certain services, Hermoso de Mendoza pointed out.
The mayor of the capital of La Rioja has also thanked the fact that the contribution that the regional government dedicates to social services has increased substantially, up to 3.2 million euros.
Apart from citing major works, such as the reform of the Sagasta institute and the project under construction of the new La Villanueva health center, which will benefit 3,000 residents of Logroño in the north, he has alluded to the recovery of closed spaces, such as the La Rosaleda, converted into a reading point.
He has also alluded to the forthcoming recovery of the plot in the old Ding-Dong kindergarten and the transfer of the iron bridge from the regional government to the City Council, to which the remodeling of Sagasta street will be added.
The money consigned in the capital agreement will be collected in the different items of the municipal budget for 2023, which is expected to be approved in full on February 28, has advanced, once issues such as the cost of energy supplies or inflation. EFE
