Lugo, Feb 5 (EFE).- The coach of Río Breogán, Veljko Mrsic, affirmed that he did not expect so much energy at Bàsquet Girona, whom he defeated (92-70), due to the loss of Marc Gasol, his franchise player, who missed the game with a foot injury.
“In the first game without Marc Gasol, they were more aggressive, with more energy than we expected when we saw that he wasn’t playing,” he confessed at the press conference after the match.
The Croatian coach highlighted the match signed by his players, with Stefan Momirov and Ethan Happ as references.
«It was a very good match, for me better than against Granada (the previous one of the season), against an opponent who played very good basketball in the first half. We reacted at the end of the second quarter from -11 to -6. In the second half we improved in defense and we also moved the ball well”, he explained.
Breogán improved his percentages in the shots from three (41%, 13 of 32), especially in the third quarter (8 of 13), a facet in which he had raised doubts.
“These players are very good shooters. At the beginning of the season they had to adapt to a League for which to do everything you have one second less than in the rest of the leagues in which they have played, “he declared. EFE
