Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE) give viability to Siam Park after the judgment of the TSJC, ratified by the Supreme Court, which declared the urban plan null and void.
This initiative, raised by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Planning at the request of the aforementioned City Council, “is intended to respond to the need to address actions aimed at the rehabilitation of its urban-tourist space, within the environmental, social and landscape framework” , explained the Government.
«The next step is the process and period of public exposure. From there we hope that everything as soon as possible. Siam Park is an element of tourist importance for Gran Canaria”, said the spokesman for the Canarian Executive, Antonio Olivera, at the press conference after the Governing Council.
With the PMM, the Government has abounded, it is intended to have an impact on a better tourist image by promoting the creation of new businesses, employment and the attraction of capital to invest and reactivate this enclave.
“It is also intended to improve the articulation of the road system, promote quality tourism with a high level of sustainability and recover underused spaces,” he adds.
In the environmental sphere, the aim is to “minimize the impact of proposed actions on the environment, promote actions that lead to savings or reduction of effective consumption of water, energy, waste and other contaminants, and encourage recycling and reuse of waste”.
In order to achieve the objectives of this PMM, which has among its purposes the inclusion of a structuring tourist equipment that improves the existing offer, three lines of action related to the development of the free area with equipment established by the Insular Plan of Gran Canaria are proposed, actions in the public space and materialization of tourist squares derived from the execution of the aforementioned structuring equipment.
The Plans for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Tourism Competitiveness (PMMI) are urban planning instruments that complement and, where appropriate, replace the current urban planning determinations, establishing the complete planning of their area of intervention, in order to make viable the urban and building renewal, without the possibility of classifying or reclassifying land if there is no prior municipal agreement that allows it.
