Toledo/Ciudad Real (EFE) the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco, at the company ‘Cortizo’.
The regional president, Emiliano García-Page, has inaugurated this Monday the expansion of the facilities of ‘Cortizo’, an aluminum and PVC multinational of Galician origin, which has just turned 50 and produces 20,000 tons per year, according to data provided by Raquel Cortizo, CEO of the company.
Franco has thanked ‘Cortizo’ for his commitment to Castilla-La Mancha, and specifically the province of Ciudad Real, and has stressed that Manzanares is a “lung” of La Mancha in terms of industries.
He has also highlighted that the regional government has allocated, since 2015, almost six million euros to business stimulus policies in the town.
He has stressed the weight that the industry has in the GDP of Castilla-La Mancha, 19%, and has explained that there are almost 11,000 companies that generate some 150,000 jobs.
23,300 new jobs in industry since 2015
Likewise, he pointed out that García-Page became regional President in 2015, 23,300 new jobs have been generated in the industry and practically half (10,300) have been in the province of Ciudad Real.
Patricia Franco has also said that the region has managed more than 185 million euros to support business incentive investments of more than 1,000 million euros, with more than a hundred projects that have served to create 2,600 jobs and maintain around 10,000.
The regional president has said that Castilla-La Mancha is proud that ‘Cortizo’ settled in the region and has stressed when it is three years since the global health alert for the covid declared by the WHO (World Health Organization), the effort of the entire society and in particular of the business fabric.
García-Page has said that three years ago “our lives began to change”, especially in a country like Spain where personal contact is very important and a large percentage of its economy is linked to tourism.
He has referred to the fact that the pain for the deceased is still close and the thousands of people who have sequelae, but he has also valued the “effort” that many people, and specifically many companies, have made to maintain themselves and even grow up.
In his opinion, what happened with the covid-19 pandemic means that societies have won a part of the battle against other viruses, be it “in the Putin version” or of another type, and he has criticized the speeches that some sectors launch against big business.
