Madrid (EFE) prevent others from “deciding what Spanish families can or cannot eat”.
Echenique has insisted on censuring Mercadona in particular, as the general secretary of the purples, Ione Belarra, did a few days ago, whose words were not liked by her socialist partners, who have asked her for verbal prudence.
He did so during his reply to the President of the Government in his appearance to give an account of the last two European Councils to demand again that he cap the prices of a basic shopping basket in addition to the intervention of variable-rate mortgages.
Although Echenique has appreciated that the coalition government has intervened in the electricity, housing and public transport markets, she has asked Sánchez to go further so that Spanish families can make ends meet.
The owner of Mercadona after criticism from Podemos: Entrepreneurs are the ones who create wealth
The president of Mercadona, Juan Roig, has defended this Tuesday that businessmen are the ones who generate “wealth and well-being and if, later, those who have to manage it know how to do it, there is wealth for everyone and if not, confrontation”.
Roig made these statements during his speech at the Mediterranean Tribune Europe Forum after the protests by the Minister of Social Rights and Secretary General of Podemos, Ione Belarra, who described the Valencian businessman as a “ruthless capitalist”.
The president of Mercadona has avoided making statements to journalists before and after the event, in which he presented the conference by the president of the Valencian Business Association (AVE), Vicente Boluda.
Regarding the minister’s statements, Boluda pointed out in question time that Belarra’s criticism of Roig and the businessmen seem “very bad” to him, “because as businessmen either we are all ruthless capitalists or we are none.”
“Given the rise in the price of gasoline, then what do we have to do, hang the president of Repsol?”, he asked himself.
In Boluda’s opinion, “it is outrageous to confront businessmen who all they want is to reactivate their company as best they can” and he recalled that “it is not a monopoly, and if it is not convenient for you to buy here, buy next door.”
