Cádiz, (EFE).- Cádiz will become from Monday and for four days the capital of the Spanish language with the celebration of the IX Congress of the Language, in which more than 300 experts will analyze the situation and the challenges of a language shared by almost 500 million native speakers.
On a triennial basis, organized by the Cervantes Institute and the Royal Spanish Academy together with the Association of Spanish Language Academies and the host country, the Language Congress is the most important forum for reflection on Spanish and is held in Cádiz after it had to change its initial headquarters in Arequipa (Peru) due to the political and social problems of the Andean country.
The Pan-Hispanic Summit of Language and Word will be inaugurated by the King and Queen of Spain, in a ceremony in which the director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, will also participate; the director of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and president of the Association of Spanish Language Academies (ASALE), Santiago Muñoz Machado, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, in addition to writers and academics .
The miscegenation of the Spanish-speaking community
Next, the debates organized until next Thursday will begin in the capital of Cádiz to address the different aspects of Spanish under the motto “Spanish language, miscegenation and interculturality. History and future”.
Thus, issues as varied as the miscegenation of the Spanish-speaking community, multilingualism, the native languages of America, the hybridization of Spanish and English, national literatures, the literary use of “Spanglish” in America, exiles and literature, will be analyzed. the sciences and everyday language, the influence of the Constitution of Cádiz of 1812, the living speech of Cádiz, artificial intelligence or intercultural journalism, among others.
Debates involving authors and experts such as Fernando Iwasaki, Carme Riera, Santiago Roncagliolo, Ana Santos Aramburo, Carmen Iglesias, María Dueñas, Héctor Abad Faciolince, Enrique Vila-Matas, Carmen Posadas, Gioconda Belli, Horacio Castellanos Moya, Guillermo Rojo, José Antonio Pascual, Rolando Kattan, Luis Mateo Díaz, Lola Pons, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón or Cristina Gallach.
Intense cultural agenda

A flamenco cajonada and the show “Tempo de Luz” -in which three leading singers, Carmen Linares, Marina Heredia and Arcángel, will offer a flamenco repertoire from its roots to the most innovative proposals- accompanied by the dance of Ana Morales (National Award de Danza 2022) will mark the start of this calendar.
Concerts by flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo and a rap battle with Blon, MNak and NikiDMT will form part of the musical programme, which will close with a concert by singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler, and Izaro, Ángel Stanich and the groups Mishima and Baiuca, in addition to eight exhibitions They will spread out across the city.
