Madrid (EFE).- Greenpeace activists have scaled the facade of El Corte Inglés de Nuevos Ministerios in Madrid this morning to change the iconic message on the poster of the company’s seasonal advertising campaign on these dates, to “never again”. It is spring due to the climate crisis and the lengthening of summer.
“Fossil fuels destroy the climate, ending the seasons as we know them so far,” the environmental organization denounced in a “tweet,” after urging “we act now.”
Pedro Zorrilla, spokesman for climate change for Greenpeace, explained to Efe today that it is necessary to “imminently” reduce fossil fuel emissions to avoid the worst consequences of the climate crisis.
He has asked governments to be “stronger and faster” in their commitments against global warming given the evidence of rising temperatures and new calls by experts to curb polluting emissions.
Taking advantage of the pending review of the national energy and climate plan, the head of Greenpeace has asked the authorities to increase Spain’s climate ambition, especially after the publication of a new report by United Nations experts warning once again of the serious consequences of global warming.
