La Frontera (El Hierro) (EFE).- The Agrupación Herreña Independiente (AHI) and Unión Frontera (UF) have announced an electoral agreement whereby both political formations will form joint lists for the upcoming municipal and regional elections on 28 May.
The announcement was made by the President of the AHI, Javier Armas, the president of the UF, Susana Pérez, the AHI candidate for the city council of La Frontera, Pablo Rodríguez Cejas, and Marcos Barrera (UF) at a press conference held in the mountain of Joapira, in La Frontera.
The agreement includes the formation of a single list in the City Council of La Frontera headed by Pablo Rodríguez Cejas (AHI) and seconded by Marcos Barrera (UF), and the participation of Unión Frontera in the rest of the electoral lists of the Agrupación Herreña Independiente in the Cabildo of El Hierro and the Parliament of the Canary Islands.
As explained by the president of AHI, Javier Armas, the proportion of UF participation in the lists to the Cabildo and Parliament has not yet been specified, but it will be proportional to its percentage of electoral representation.
“UF is a municipal party, so in the case of La Frontera the list will be equal, and in the rest of the lists they will have an important representation but dimensioned in percentage of participation”, said Armas.
“This is an island-wide agreement between two formations that have shown great harmony in this legislature, and that now offer an alternative to the citizens of La Frontera and El Hierro,” he added.
Susana Pérez, president of UF, explained that the agreement was born from a process of reflection and debate within her group, remembering that Unión Frontera (UF) was born with the sole purpose of changing the way of doing politics in the municipality.
“We face a new challenge with the certainty that between the two parties we will have a great work team, with a single common objective, which is to work for the residents of this municipality,” said Pérez, for whom “the union makes the force”. EFE
